Barrel ID
« on: September 25, 2012, 07:00:29 AM »
I recently looked at a used rifle. It was in very good shape. The bore was imaculate, I put a light in it. It had a straight barrel with a square bottom 8 groove rifling pattern.

Anyone know who made the barrel?

Need more info, were groves wider than lands? Rate of twist ? any markings on barrel flats or breech end ?

Smylee, the rifle was at a store and in used condition no markings were visible on the barrel but I didn't remove the barrel. The lands and grooves were about the same size with square bottom grooves.

I thought the 8 groove pattern might identify the barrel, I've never seen one with 8 grooves.
