45 cal rifle (split off from the For Sale Topic)

Lutes,
Sounds like a nice rifle but I don't think it will make the 13# table shoot limit. Great rifle for chunk shooting.

Maybe we need a new class--"unlimited table."

Kermit,
The table shoots are a great game but I have a feeling that it is going into an unlimited game, equipment wise, except for the weight.

Could you email me pics at coltonfleetwood@yahoo.com! VERY INTERESTED! What kind of rifle/gun are you interested in? I might have something for trade.

This is of interest to me also.  What is the season and limit on tables?  Are we allowed just picnic tables or are card tables legal too?  How are they cooked?  Do they taste like chicken?  What is the "kill" zone? :o
Nothing is hard if you have the right equipment and know how to use it.  OR have friends who have both.

Just curious what is a table shoot? Not interested in hunting tables, eating tables, or trophy tables.

It seems to be a modified bench rest using an angled board.
Never tried it but it looks interesting.

Bob,
If I could post I would put up pictures of the table but it is actually a "T" shaped table with 3 legs and a movable pyramid shaped barrel rest. Like so many other games, it sounds easier than it is. It's been adapted to accomodate some of us "more mature" chunk shooters who are having trouble getting back on our feet. Getting down on our bellies is the easy part.

Mark,
I saw a picture of something similar to your description but it was a while back.
I am among the fortunate at 77 that is still fairly agile and able if need be to get
down and up again but will probably not shoot in any competitions again.Too many
other interests and not enough time for all of them.

Sure would like to see photos of the table and maybe some of them in use too.

So, I gather that everyone has to build their own table and then haul the big clunky thing to the match.

T-O-F,
The pictures that are in Kermit's post were taken at Allen Coon's range and are good depictions of what are being used. At Allen's range they have two tables that are kept there for his matches. I built one and take it to my home range to use for practice, and to entice other shooters to try it. I expect that as the game grows other clubs will also build tables for their shoots.

Hi All,

If anybody is interested there will be a Table shoot at Coon's Farm Glenwood Indiana on Sat. June 29 and a Chunk gun shoot Sun. June 30. We should have bunch of people show-up that weekend. There is primative camping on site. Tents, campers and whatever you got. Plenty to eat at the Table Shoot and a lunch will be served sun at the chunk shoot. I believe the Table shoot will be shot from 8:00am-2:00pm. You must have shot all 10 shots in between those times. The Chunk shoot starts around 9:30am practice lasts about a 1/2hr.

All food is no charge but your welcome to bring food stuff and prizes!

See ya' there, Mike

Mike,
I'm going to try to be there again, this time with a rifle that meets weight, and give it another go. Tis is a great game and Allen's shoots are hard to beat.

Weight? Are you saying there's a limit? Build stouter tables!

Kermit,
You're not wrong about stout but my wife thinks the dining room table should remain in the dining room! Guess I'll have to meet the weight limit.

This reminds me of a few years ago, when at Friendship they introduced a "womens chunk gun match, 14 lb limit". I was running all over telling how I was going to bring down the little woman.
