New Chambers late Ketland question
« on: August 27, 2014, 10:06:59 PM »
I was wondering if someone could post pictures of the old and new versions of Jim Chambers late Ketland for comparison.

Not sure what you mean. Or should I say, I wasn't aware of different versions.  The Silers have certainly evolved.

Last year at Friendship (I don't remember if it was June or Sept) I tried to buy a Late Ketland from Barbie, but they were out of stock.  Barbie told me they were working on a redesign of the lock and she could take a back-order for me.  I got the lock in March, I think.  Nice lock.

Here's a link to some info on the "new" Late Ketland from back in February......  http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=29685.msg284162#msg284162

Barbie showed me the revamped late Ketland lock at the CLA show and the cock is the main thing. It has been improved and gives the lock an even better appearance than it had. IMHO it is the best looking lock available followed closely by the little L&R small Manton/Bailes

Jim C and I made plans at the spring shoot to time both versions this fall.  I am not sure when it will get done, Tuesday is a possibility.

The reason to ask about pictures is that nothing beats a side by side comparison. I have one of the old versions for my next project. I was wondering if it would be worth it to try and order a replacement cock and mainspring to update it to the new version.

The link I posted above has pictures of the "new" late Ketland.  Alas, the "old" version isn't pictured in that thread.
