I love Getz barrels and generally have one on order and a couple in stock. But I don't think it's productive to question the price another craftsman puts on their hand work. It could come across as a little bit mean-spirited to the guy who did the hand work. I do consider Getz barrels to be the best value in gun barrels, period, for several reasons (same reasons many others feel the same). But more expensive barrels certainly have their place. Saw a Lotus on the road the other day. Not a really good value for a commuter car for an old gray haired dude. May not be faster than many other cars going for 1/3 the price. But folks will pay for something exclusive in a car or in a gun barrel. More power to them.
While on the topic of "fair discourse" I'll sermonize some more. It's well and good to support folks who make fine and reliable goods and stand behind them, but remember that other folks make good things too. For example, it's gotten so some folks think any lock other than a xxxxxxxx must be junk or any gun kit other than a xxxxxxxx must be junk by comparison. Not so. I just got one of R.E. Davis' early Germanic locks and it is spectacular. The fit of the parts is superb. Sparks like crazy. Smooth. I've had L&R locks that were slick as snot, waterproof, and FAST. That can all be true and still not be dismissive of the fine products in the xxxxxxxx line of locks, which I love and use a lot. But I won't build a rifle with a Siler lock. Don't care that it's great, which it is. Just seen too many of them already in my lifetime. Personal taste, not a value judgment.
