A little different Mule Ear transitional rifle
« on: October 10, 2020, 11:41:36 PM »
Here is one I just completed.  It is a 54 caliber, Colerain C weight barrel and Burl Walnut.  The lock is the L&R mule Ear.  I had to do it.

Contemporary comes to mind. Nice looking walnut and workmanship looks nice too. How is the gain through the wrist?

How do you keep the flints on? As with all your stuff, nicely done but didn't you just start it?

Smylee, thanks for the compliment.  I agree it is contemporary with a lot of imagination.  I have studied the grain from the butt through the lock area and to be honest, I can't determine a solid pattern or direction.  It changes quickly and I can not even determine which cut of wood it is. To say it is tough/solid would be an understatement also.

Alright Dale, be nice.  You know the flint goes inside the hammer cup.  It did go fairly quick.  Hunting season is less than two weeks away and I did not want anything to interfere with that.

Your imagination is what makes that gun cool.  Plus that wood grain and finish is killer.

This is a beautifully built, and finished rifle, there’s just no way to call it anything but modern, or maybe a  time traveler. The wood is fantastic. I hope she shoots as good as she looks.
