Help with triggerguard

I have been working on a steel triggerguard for an Appalachian style rifle and was wondering if soldering is necessary after pinning.I'll be sure and send pics for critiqueing (can't learn without it)as soon as I am finished.Thanks fellas.Chris

Chris,
You will need to silver solder or braze the joint after getting it pinned to hold it firmly in place.  I have used both types of material with success.  Good luck with the project.

The pin/rivit is for holding the two pieces together so you can braze/silver solder them.  The braze/silver solder is the real connecter of the joint.  I like to place a thin strip of brass or copper between the two pieces before riviting them together.  Then all I do is apply some borax and heat until the brass melts.
