Dave Keck buying out Fred Miller
« on: November 26, 2010, 11:47:59 PM »
I stopped in to see Dave Keck at Knob Mountain Muzzleloading today. Last week he pick-up all the patterns he bought after Fred Miller’s retirement.  I have spent a fair amount of time in Fred’s shop over the last twenty years but I never saw many of the patterns Dave bought from Fred.

Apparently Fred copied many originals and put them on his shelf and they never saw the light of day after that, never been used.  Dave said when they were loading his truck Fred even commented that on certain patterns he never used them.  What a selection Dave has now!!

Dave said he will be putting pictures of them on his web site but it will take a while.  If you happen to be in his locale, stop in and see all the eye candy.

Fred also had several kits (or parts packages) that he sold. Some of these patterns need minor repair. Dave is going to update and repair them over the winter and offer them for sale in the not too distant future.

Good for him. The passing along of this knowledge and the patterns , allowing the continuation of a service is to be commended. How much has been lost simply because a craftsman retired and quietly slipped below
the radar? I shall be happy to direct whatever business I can to Mr. Keck
