entry thimble

  i'm replacing the entry thimble on a rifle, problem is trying to find one the same length, the ones i've got seem to be 1/8" shorter than inlet. any help?

My only suggestion would be to try and find one just like it on the Track of the Wolf website or make one.  What style gun is it?

Show us a photo of what you are replacing, there are ALLOT of dif. venders avail. & maybe we know one you have not checked with.

Just a thought........  Make a piece to lengthen it and lip under it & bring the edge in flush. Flux it & solder the piece to it. Then file & sand. If you have a line, put a could make a few graver lines, one on the joint, and one fore & one aft.

If it were me I would make my own.  It's not that hard to do.

I'm with Dave, make your own.   If you solder in a piece, you will always be able to see the solder line.  
     While making an entry themble is intimidating, it is actually not that hard to do with the correct tools.  I use a small ball hammer, a wooden forming/swage block and a 4 inch punch I made from mild 3/8 diameter steel.  I think there may be some info here on making one.  If you want I can email how to make the wood swage block and the steps I use.

  i believe making one is the way to go, this one is of german silver. watching hershel house make one, it does'nt seem to hard, just have to order german silver sheet metal 0.40 thick, from totw. i'll never use g/s again, its hard to clean up.    thanks guys

Let me know what size you need. I am pretty sure I have 1 German Silver entry pipe that I got in a box of other items.

Investment cast Brass or G.Silver is hard to clean up cause they are hard.. Plate G.Silver, plate brass is easy to clean up because it is softer.  Mothers Mag Wheel Polish will make the Brass or G.Silver shine like it came out a showroom.
