You never know what is motivating the buyer. Could be
a descendant of the maker, someone who collects that maker
or area. It's hard to say what drove the price other than the
gun was a nice example and the condition appeared to be very
good. Personally, I'm glad to see it go that high. It says to me
that it doesn't have to be a Lancaster or Bedford gun to get
a nice value. Maybe there's hope for us Western PA collectors
after all.
