Chambers Mark Silver VA completed
« on: May 03, 2011, 11:14:26 PM »
Pictured here is my completed James River Basin rifle that is offered by Jim Chambers. The quarter sawn stock of red maple comes from Wayne Dunlop. Ron Scott did the metal engraving. The balance of the project was completed by myself over several months between other projects. The rifle balances beautifully and has shown to be quite accurate. This is a wonderful kit to assemble with much credit to Mark and Jim for their engineering of the piece.

Rainman: This piece of red maple was as hard as some good sugar maple that I've had.  The carving was thus clean, however, the grain did have a mind of its own - changing direction quite often.

Smiley: It is a 62 cal round bottom from Getz.

Rich: Thanks for your compliment. There are a number of us out there who value quality workmanship, although we aren't in the forefront of the trade. I have had the privledge to "rub shoudlers" with many of the "masters", and have benefitted from their sharing approach. This rifle was built expressly for me as one of the last for my personal use. The future holds a fowler of some type, that will round out my needs. I will continue to build for those who appreciate our American art form. Thanks again for your kind words.

That's a real nice piece of work.  You should be quite proud of it.
