warped & twisted pre-carved stock

Hello Folks,
I am a new member from Texas. I recently purchased a precarved stock that is warped and twisted from the forestock on. The warp has been dealt with but the twist is tough. It looks OK with the barrel in but goes back to warp when removed. I don't have an even fit on the sides Is this normal or did I just get a difficult stock? Any advise will be greatly appreciated and thanks for having me here.

IF, it was warped when you got it and you have not cut on it you can send it back. And you should, at the price we pay for wood these days a guy shouldn't have to put up with $#@* like that.
Or did you pay less for it because it was warped? AL

Being a pre-carved ... Who did you buy it from?
They should be willing to take it back and replace it. If they can't replace it they should be willing to refund your money.
They must not pay too much attention to thing before they ship? Can't imagine they'd be that hard pressed just to keep a sale.

Most precarves I have seen would not take the barrel without being adjusted a little. Call the supplier and ask their advice. If they tell you it is at the point of no return because of being altered you need to come up with a solution. Boat builders use soaking and/or steaming to twist wood into all kinds of unatural shapes, so that may be an option. Try wrapping the fore end in plastic and putting a hose from a container of water (anything like a teakettle will work) to the stock. Boil water in the container for a couple of hours then clamp the barrel in the stock and set the whole thing aside for a few days.

Thank you for the replies. I have not built a rifle in over 20 yrs and I am not sure whether it came warped or warped afterward. I have already done some work so I'll finish it as is and chalk it up to a refresher course of what to look for. It's a southern mountain rifle and I let ya'll know how I come out with it.
Thanks again,
Keto

I agree with Pete G. If you get the wood pliable and clamp it onto the barrel, it will conform
. With a similar problem, I just taped the stock tightly to the barrel and left it for a few days (as it seemed to be moving on me) and the stock straightened out pretty well. My guess is they come out of the machine perfect and then twist, so they probably "want" to go back to straight if you give them the right opportunity
