another question on chambers oil finish

applied heavy and steal wool between coats but there were times when it appeared streaked. came out ok after I lightly sanded with steel wool. was wondering if I did something wrong. I also touched up a scrape with lmf stain and it appeared to take the finish off. was easily touched up but now I know to be very careful around lmf stain after the finish is applied

Jim,

Chamber's oil is a wipe on, wipe off finish.

If you put it on heavy, it will NEVER dry.

I have no idea how it could streak, unless that part of the wood is just absorbing more.

You apply it like a tung oil sealer/finish.  Slop it on till it looks like it will absorb no more, then wipe it all off.  Let it dry 24 hours.  Repeat as necessary.

Stuff works great.

thanks Dane, that is what I didn't do. I applied and let dry. the wood did soak up the first coat like a sponge
