After all those thousands of rounds thru her (60,000+) since 89 she shows signs of being worn out..... Had some misfires (she be a cussin gun) field stripped her at a shoot 2 weeks ago. She ' seemed' to have a cracked main spring (you know the feeling). She also failed to knock off of full draw with her double sett davis trikkers. Pulled those out slopped oil on her (wipe, wipe, wipe) Found the spring worn (no wonderment there) shimmed under the back end and got much better 'snap'. Also found the tumbler shaft egg shaped a frog hair or so. The hammer nose to nipple (she only has one) alignment is off since the thousands of hammer drops over the years did actually turn the drum forward just enough for some misalignment, although she was good and tight,. So, all in all I'll have some bench work to do tonight. Maybe I should set her aside and learn how to shoot my latest effort. Bottom line is Ol reliable isn't so reliable.
So, the bore isn't the only thing to keep well maintained in an ol timer.
