Finished hawken rifle
« on: December 23, 2013, 08:55:10 AM »
I wanted to show off the rifle I just finished, It has a .54 cal douglas XX barrel, I ordered the breech, lock and set triggers, the rest is all hand made forged trigger guard, butt plate, machined under rib and feralls, have die I made to form wedge pins, nose cap cast of block tin.

I have not made a rifle for about 15 or so years  :)

Looks like you have not forgotten how ;D
Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning

If you copy and paste the IMG code you can display the pictures in your thread instead of links.

Nice rifle!  I always enjoy seeing the hand made furnishings that some here make.

If you photo the rifles outside in the shade with a neutral background they will show up very nicely.  The white backgrounds force your camera to adjust to their whiteness and leave the object (rifle) looking very dark and without much detail.

Long cruise thank you for the info, I thought maybe it was the camera but when weather permits I will try that, I took a lot of photos and I couldn't understand why it wasn't looking like the rifle I was looking at .
