I can't say I've seen photos of a genuine Tulle with a round face lock... all the photographs I've seen show a flat faced French style lock (quite distinct from a flat-face Germanic lock). Are you building a Tulle, or a fowler with French architecture? If the latter, then a Chambers round-face lock would suit quite well - Grinslade's book on fowlers shows lots of prime examples of New England fowlers with round locks.

Yes, I am building a Tulle. In doing research, I have noticed all have flat locks, but I like the look of a round faced Virginia lock that Chambers makes. I just want the lock to be appropriate to the style.

I am building it for myself, but if I don't like it is may sell it. More than likely it will stay with me.

Use TOW's newer "tulle' lock made by Chambers. Its about 99% correct. The best choice out there for a Tulle as of yet. But what do I know...

Here is a picture of the lock I used in my Tulle a few years back. It started life as a Davis French fusil. I replaced the cock with one from a Jim Chambers early Ketland. I hand made the top jaw, top jaw screw and tumbler screw. I replaced the frizzen spring with one from the Davis engraved round faced lock. Reshaped the finial and made a larger frizzen spring screw. I then took the existing frizzen, tempered it and removed all the Germantic file work off the back side of the frizzen face making the frizzen more Continental in appearance. I enlarged the powder area in the pan, blued the frizzen cover to the pan and finally hand engraved Tulle on the lock plate.

Some of the early English trade guns by Wilson and probably others were French style with English round faced locks. That might bridge the possibility gap.
