The new stockwood is here! The new stockwood is here!*

OH MY GOODNESSES!

TWO/DOS/ZWEI stock blanks in hand READY TO GO!  (USPS just brought me hunk of Walnut, thanks Jim.)

and me with my first one scattered on the bench...well.

The notion is to get the "big bore" back together PRONTO/SCHNELLER/VENGA VENGA!

And to attempt a dual-build of the 30 and 40.  I predict that this will allow me to stay focused, but be able to "break" from one to the other to keep it interesting and that maybe I'll be able to keep my tools and fixtures ready at hand as opposed to scattered somewhat randomly, thus speeding up the process.

Plus I now have a 1:1 model of what (not) to do.

here we go.  ;)

(TN style both, 46" 30-A in Walnut, 44" 40-A in Ash)

My little dog is too excited about squirrel hunting this Fall for a "slow progress".  Also, having a regular job with a paycheck should help too.  Heck i spent 40 bucks on files this morning.

And yes I will hunt squirrels with the 54 if necessary.  Pup Doggie Dog can't be put off another season.

I am just in the finishing stages of a 36 cal Ash stocked rifle.

Fancy'n the lock today, installed a single style trigger this morning. Ash is a beautiful wood. Aqua Fortis and LMF Maple stain - beeswax finish, which I love.

Ask around for "old used files".....I have been scrounging files for a year, then sending them to Boogs to be sharpened.....I now have 30# + of all types of files ;D
For WAY cheaper than costs.....
Even ebay for bunches...then sharpen....

Patch, that ash is gorgeous! Maybe I should just have you take over the ash gun I'm planning...

I have sacks full of used files on hand (those that haven't been made into other cutting tools).  Contact info for "Boogs"?  Oh, nevermind I see:  "Boggs Tool & File Sharpening".  I'll try 'em.  Some of my bike builder pals tried re-sharps from another company and were not impressed--but that heat-treated 4130 and stainless is a bit more demanding than most of our LR alloys.
