Greetings Everyone!

Do any of you know of a gun builder in the Nashville, TN area? I am looking for someone who would be willing to have an observer, helper, or apprentice. Your help is much appreciated!

I live in the Lebanon area and would be glad to help you any way I could. I have built 59 muzzleloaders.

Dan,

Thanks much for your offer of assistance. Do you have a shop there in Lebanon? I have built a percussion .36 cal. longrifle, and am now in the process of building a .54 cal. flintlock in the Tennessee Mountain style. I still feel that I have much to learn and so I am seeking the opportunity to glean from the experience and expertise of others. I will be retiring from my current full time job in early March and I will finally have the time to hopefully gain this knowledge that I am seeking!

Tip Curtis is north of Nashville a bit. John Anderson is at Tullahoma. I'm just a noob. (Woodbury).

Those guys don't do forums/web.

I have a shop here at my home. You are welcome anytime. I retired a long time ago. I build for pleasure and do sell most of the ones I build. Call if you would like to visit. Glad to share whatever I know and have learned from others. The first flintlock I ever shot was John Anderson's at a Boy Scout shooting event we held back in 1976. Got me hooked.

A very good gunsmith friend, top ranked B/P shooter and pretty good gun builder approached Tip Curtis years ago and offered his services for free just to learn about building rifles. He said he spent several weeks in Tip's shop helping and absorbing knowledge.

I live about 10 miles from the TN line south of Nashville in NW Alabama. I have only built two guns so far, both from a plank but probably don't have the storehouse of knowledge you are looking for.

Tom, I beat you to it, retirement that is(Oct. 31). I hope soon to start all over with this gun building hobby that I've sorely neglected for way too many years. I know Dan, John, and Tip. They are all great guys and real southern gentlemen I'm sure any one of them would help you in any way.

Bolivar? Oh wait you said on the line. I've been to a truck pull in MS just below TN, we went nearly due N to get to Bolivar (where some pals were from) and then on up to Jackson.

Well that's my Hardeman Co. experience. all of it.
