Jewelers saw question
« on: March 05, 2015, 12:51:07 AM »
Today I broke the handle off of my jewelers saw. I thought I had purchased a decent one from Brownells...guess I was wrong. I wasn't hogging either with it either. I had a small slotting file clamped in it and I was slotting screw heads.

Can you guys tell me a quality brand saw I can buy that will last?

Thanks
Brian

Go to Otto Frei, Gesswein or Rio Grande.

I think Rio sells a lot of lower end stuff, and some good stuff too. Don't go for cheapest. The clam screws are the first things to go, screws strip, or tapped holes strip out. Get a good saw.

Hi Brian,
Look up "Knew Concept" jewelers saws.  They are hands down the best and although more expensive, you will save a lot on broken saw blades.

I have the Knew Concepts coping saw. Worth every dime. Still have my grandfather's Disston, but never use it any longer.
