Rob, I have not yet measured the width across the flats but it is 42" long in 32 caliber.

Does it have an Upper Susquehana riveted tail on the entry pipe and/or hooks and blind tenons for fastening the barrel in the fore stock?

Who made the swivel breech and how does the swivel release work? That side plate looks like a release BUTTON instead of a release lever. I think I like that!

Wonder why it has a touch hole pick holder. It appears to always have been a percussion?

Bill, I will be picking up the swivel breech rifle later this week and will have more answers and pictures of it then. All I know is that it is a 54 caliber and the maker's name slips my memory at present.  As for the mystery percussion rifle, no to both your questions. The r\r tail pipe is one piece and the barrel is pinned through the tennons.                                    Mark, I guess you'd have to call it a "nipple pick holder"   ::)       Thank you all for your input!

The barrel tang and the trigger guard remind me of NC. The rest of the gun....not so much.

Nipple picks are not that unusual.  I have an original percussion halfstock by J. W. Keller, Casey, Illinois, that has three brass staples under the cheekpiece and an old brass wire pick.
