John Bergmann - gun builder - good feedback
« on: April 14, 2017, 10:00:23 PM »
I just want to post some good feedback here on John F. Bergmann, a long-time builder in Tennessee.

John just went out of his way to make sure I was pleased with his work.

I bought second-hand a rifle he made a couple of decades back.  It had some problems in the breech due to being stored so long.  John was very friendly about it (even though I was not the original owner), and had me send the rifle to him.  He even sent a wood "coffin" to safely ship it in.

Long story short, John corrected everything and even went beyond that in making sure I was taken care of.

I think it is safe to say if someone buys a rifle from John he'll make sure they are very happy campers.

In this digital world, we hears lots of howls when people aren't happy.  I think we need to make sure other folks know when we have been treated well.

I am not sure if John is on these forums, but it doesn't matter to my post here.  He's a safe fellow to deal with, honest, and very friendly.

Best wishes and God Bless,   Marc

Ditto
Exactly my experience as well.
My brother-in-law and I both ordered a rifle from John and have been nothing but pleased with the guns and the service.
My set triggers developed a problem and I sent them back to John and he had them corrected and back to me in short order.

Nice to hear good feedback instead of bad or discouraging.  ;)

I have never seen or handled but one Bergmann flintlock. It was a turkey choked smoothbore he built for a friend of mine from Canada/Kentucky. It looked great an felt even better in the hand an the way it balanced. Looked top notch to this old redneck
Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning

Hi,
I have a close friend in Alaska who owns 2 guns by John, a Hawken and a Fusil de Chasse.  They are very fine guns and my friend killed deer, elk, moose, caribou, and muskox with them.  John's Hawken worked reliably even on a muskox hunt at -40 degrees.
