... A few photos of inlaid pewter nose-caps on TENNESSEE rifles,... I believe this feature was unique to Mountain Rifles of East Tennessee and to some extent Western North Carolina,.... (some photos are original old guns, others are contemporary builds),... Comments encouraged, and please post more photos of interesting nose-caps,... !!! Regards, ... C C Fiddler

I think I see Ian Pratt represented. His work is so pleasing to the eye

Here’s another one that many of you will get to see in person real soon. I’m told that it will be at the Knoxville show this weekend.

Very cool thread. I think we should elect CCF to take pewter nose cap pictures at Knoxville to show those of us that couldn't make the Pilgrimage .

Thanks for starting this thread, Fiddler. I have always found the variations in these nose caps interesting.

This one is on a halfstock Unicoi County rifle. Not sure if it counts but it is the only poured pewter cap I have. See you all at the Tennessee show.

Thanks CCF, I'll be pouring up some of these in the not terribly distant future. And I've been a bit negligent in my studies. This helps me work out what I like and don't like.
I never thought of them as "inlaid" though. It's certainly a fine way to get a
tight
wood to metal fit!
