2/3 of the Gunbuilder's Fair now over. Weather fine, crowds down a bit but not much.  Many ALR T shirts infiltrated the place ::)  The fine rifles etc built today by our folks quite amazing as per usual.  Lots of friendly guys and of course girls! 

Plenty of great conversation with the artists of our time.

Going to load up now and head for a shoot in Danville, Pa tomorrow.  I like to build them and like to shoot 'em still more! ;D

Roger,
It was great seeing you at Dixon's Friday. I probably would never have got there if it weren't for Tom Curran's coaxing. It was my first Dixon's since 1993 I was there every year from 83 thru 93 and I am starting to remember meeting you way back then. Man things really have grown.
I totally enjoyed myself especially meeting the folks from the ALR.org

Roger and Jim (and all the others who were in the shade at the Tom and Eric tent),
What a fine time!  It is like going to a family reunion.  But no aged aunts to squeeze your cheek!
I'm already planning for next year and hoping to see some of you at some of the shows between now and then.
Sorry I couldn't stay for the whole weekend, but safely home with a small trove of treasure more great memories.

It was a good day, not too hot...

It seemed like there weren't as many entrants this year?  I seem to remember the table being filled and this year there was still some room.

I've been thinking about all you god friends this weekend, and wishing I was there.  Daryl and I went shooting today to commemorate the weekend.  And tomorrow we will sight in the cannon getting ready for Heffley.

Went on Friday and Saturday. Both days were beautiful. Lots of good stuff to see and buy. Stocked up on flints and bought a Tip Curtis early longrifle in the white.
62 caliber swamped barrel, sliding wooden patchbox, beautiful curly maple stock.

Tip has some nice stuff at reasonable prices.

Rich I went though probably all of Wayne's pieces on Friday didn't see the hickory but maybe he had it on the side for you. I know Bill Shipman got a beauty in ash. You will have to ask Tom about his piece of German Apple he got. Heaviest piece of wood I have ever seen.
Larry those pouches you brought along were outstanding. I thought they were super in the photos you posted on this forum but they're even better looking in person. Very nice work indeed.

As always a great time.  I did think the crowd was a bit thinner on Saturday than usual. but then again I haven't counted.  Just seemed I could move around easier.

I was glad to have met some new to me ALRs, I sat in and on on Eric's planning seminar - very good of course.  and I caught Ian's standing room only iron mounts and comedy review. 

Tried to be a good boy with the wallet, but failed again :)

I was there Saturday. Great time as usual. Picked up a few things and sat in on a few seminars. The rifles and builders were top notch. Got some questions answered and learned a few techniques that I'm sure will come in handy. Thanks to everyone that put this show together.

Well I am glad to hear Dixons was another success as I sit here in Illinois dreaming about what I am missing. The plans to go fell through due to only one factor, what else- the ching. So I had to pick between this or CLA and since Lexington is closer it won out. I sure due miss those seminars!!!!! I want to give all who donate their time for this and any teaching. THANK YOU!! I hope to never miss another one. Maybe I will meet some of you folks there.

Well the weather WAS great until today... rained pretty good for a few hours. Eric Von.... gave his first seminar are building architecture, Tom gave his on gun carving and me I was the team heckler, not really. Some of the builders are taking home some ribbons. Eric took a 1st with a real pretty pistol. I am so bad with names ... John_Chollen? forgive me if that's not right from Oakland NJ took a third with his real pretty rifle And the gentle man from VA alais VArifle gun took home a bunch of ribbons with his beautiful fowler and rifle. As for me I took home a purple people eater( judges choice)All together it ended up being fun... Geo F.

I was there Friday and Saturday. It was my first trip.
Picked up enough parts for a Tenn Southern Rifle.
I met some interesting people.
Some great seminars. (Thanks to those who took the time
to present them.)

1056 miles all total. That is about exactly how much money I spent at the fair as well.

Next year I would like to be better organized and go for 4-5 days with my wife and plan a few activities on each end. Leigh Valley Pig Irons were not at home but I did see the ball diamond and it is incredible. If you like baseball try and see this the next time.  I love the geography in this area. It looks like some great deer, squirrel, turkey hunting. Every turn in the road was another great view. It would not take too much effort to plan an incredible mini-vacation around the fair.

Hey guys...   Just got home a few hours ago.   Another GREAT time!  Got to see Larry, Tom, Eric, Long John (and Olley sp?), Jim...  It really is nice to see, meet and speak with the boys.  Like Larry said, it does feel like a family reunion.  Plus, you get to see great guns like Johns beautiful little Bucks, Tom's outrageous Jager and Erics beautiful French pistol.  Not to mention Bill Shipman's...  well their Bill's, so what can you say?

Rich,  Taylor, Cody and all the guys who couldn't make it, we all missed you guys hanging around the tent!  I think the crowds were down as well but there were plenty of ALR T-shirts around.  For anyone who hasn't gone, mark your calander now for next year and start saving the pennies.  It's more than worth it...

Made the trip Saturday & Sunday.  Sat in on Eric and Tom's Seminars, all good.  Picked up some odds and ends, and did the tent-to-tent dash during the traditional Sunday monsoon.  Met lots of fine people.

I forgot to mention that Larry brought his beautiful Fordney with him as well.  The pics he posted don't do justice, especially the wrist area with the silver accents.  A really nice rifle!  Sorry Larry, my mind was going a mile a minute (which is rare)....

Got home last night and unloaded my overloaded Cherokee.  I think it breathed a sigh of relief.  It was getting tired of hauling stocks and barrels numerous times over Blue Mountain. Glad I'm less than 2 hrs away from Dixons.  Now all I have to do is make sence of them all and start making wood chips fly and get more castings made. 

It was great to see and talk to so many of you again and meet many for the first time.  To many talented artists to mention and lots of fun was had by all.

One more cup of coffee and the funs over.  Back to work.   Hope to many of you again at the CLA in a few weeks.

I'm back home, and it don't seem possible that the Fair is over for the year. It cannot be, yet , somehow I know it went by. It ain't right, for something I waited so long for, dreamed about, that it's gone by already, and I don't even remember ANYTHING from it. It's like being in a trance. I had such a great time, I read all the posts you guys wrote, remembering fondly so many of my experiences, trying to hang onto the weekend. But here I am, at home, with a pile of laundry and work, a car full of old gum, candy wrappers, customers on the phone and at the door. here we go! back to the twenty first Century!

Thanks for another fine year! Here's to many more!
