The box on that stock looks like a VA box to me.  I don't know anything about NC makers and not a lot about VA but that's just my view, for what it's worth.

It, however, is very interesting to find a similar spring on another rifle.  Just proof that ideas are out there just waiting for someone to discover them.  Different makers in different places can make the same discovery.

Kennedy rifles have a lot of the style and architecture of a Virginia rifle.  But yes, that butt stock is from a Kennedy rifle made in Moore county North Carolina.
