Where to get German silver
« on: January 25, 2020, 09:28:02 PM »
All I need is a small sheet about 6"x6". Where is the best place to buy that at?

I’m making an inlay... so along with my first question, a second one would be; how thick do I want it to be? Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure what gauge you need, but I think the best selection of German silver and brass is from a jeweler's supply like Thunderbird or Rio Grande.

I have this piece of .040" I found the other day while recycling scrap brass.  .040" works good for inlays.  If you can use it, it is yours.  PM me if you want it?

If you want to use for the stuff, its not correct for most American firearms in the FL era, Rio Grande sells it.. It was known from the 14th c in Europe as Paktong coming from China where it originated.    I use sterling or fine silver for white metal.
Its actually a copper/zinc/nickle alloy.

German silver is readily available from TOW or MBS as well as other muzzleloader building suppliers.  You won't find it any less expensive than Dave's offer..

Ron,
I agree that Mr. Rase’ offer is indeed a kind one... one that I did take him up on in a PM. Thanks to all who responded... and thanks Mr. Rase  for your kindness! I’ll pay it forward! ;)
