Comment on SCHREIT (1761) RIFLE-pics added

I know the forum rules ask us not to comment on items for sale unless the poster opens it up.
So feel free to comment on my cherry stocked Schreit rifle if you want. There have been 900+ looks, so some have looked more than once and must have an opinion one way or the other.
I'll just say it was a fun contemporary project.

Added pics inside patchbox. Lid is made from one piece as usual.

Very Nice looking rifle! I love the color of the cherry stock! Most are finished too dark for my taste, very well done.

Looks good in cherry. Everything I expect from your work.  Great architecture, fit, finish, and feel. I appreciate you didn’t engrave the sideplate.

Rich, sorry the side plate is engraved, but my poor camera doesn't show it well.

Tom,

I like it a lot.  The lighter color seems very fitting.  One thing that jumps out to my eye is the buttplate edge thickness.  I think the Schreit buttplate might be a little thick, but I don't remember it being this heavy.  Oh, the brass on the end of the lid too...  This is minor though in the scheme of things.  It's a beautiful gun and has beautiful workmanship.

Jim K, I think I can still thin that butt down some. Thanks for the suggestion, you've got a good eye!
I also love the light color. Toyed with the idea of no stain at all, just finish. I don't know why so many cherry stocks are stained a dark red. I think it hides the beautiful grain. That's just me.

I really like the colour and finish, Tom. Very "fitting" indeed, for that rifle.

Update: per Jim Kibler's suggestion, I thinned the edges of the buttplate by half what they were. It does look more Svelt now, eh? Thanks Jim!

It is listed hear for sale, for one more day and goes to TOTW on Monday (3/16/20) unless someone speaks up.

Thanks again for your comments,
Tom C.

It won’t last long on Track. This is a site where many/most build their own. Folks go there looking to buy, and somebody’s going to get what should be an heirloom.

This rifle shipped today. I only mention this because I've heard so many complaints about shipping guns over the years. The gal at our smalltown P.O. always greets me with a smile, probably because I bring such a big package! She never asks what's inside even when I insure it for over $3k!
It should show up on TOTW sight in a couple weeks. They have a worldwide audience.
