I am posting the following photo of a couple of small axes for Dick Gadler.   He will comment on them.

Thanks Mark! The scale is an 18" printers rule, (inches and picas) and can give some idea of the sizes of the pieces. The one on the right is a bag size, poll hatchet which is hand forged and has old wood. From an old PA collection. The small bag sized pipe tomahawk has a very light head and has filed notch decorations on both sides around the entire edge of the head. This is a light hatchet, but was used given the wear on the blade. The pipe bowl has been filed into rings. Stem is probably original and is drilled through full length. This piece showed up at a gun show in Ohio, and for a time was part of the Jim Dresseler collection.
