What a rifle. The wood is absolutely beautiful, the carving is so good, this rifle will go down with the great guns of our time. Can't wait to see it in completion- probably going to need knee pads!

Wow!  Beautiful rifle David.  If I had the ability to do all that carving and engraving (which I don't) I think I would be sweating bullets through the entire project.  I don't see how you guys do it to such a high level of perfection.

The But plate, trigger guard, and nose cap, toe plate, and side plate are steel.  They will be finished in an antique finish, something that will resemble pewter.  The flower in the cheek piece is ivory, it doesn't look like much now but when it is scrimshawed , I promise you it will look like a flower.  I wanted this rifle to be delivered to the owner at the CLA show, but it doesn't look like I will make it.  The but stock will be finished, and I will take it to the show without the barrels.

I apologize for not submitting these pictures in a scroll form but for the life of me I con not  get these pictures to post that way any more.  You showed me how to do it originally, and I am doing it exactly the same way,but it will not work for me any more.  If you can e mail me and set me straight I would appreciate it.

David, Looks Great. I like seeing it stained up, but without the finish. The quality of your carving really shows up well in these photos. I guess you finally got the multiple photo thing figured out. Tom

Hi David,
Another beautiful example of high art in gunmaking!  I've had trouble viewing ALR.org or you would have heard from me sooner.  I'm glad you're bringing it to CLA.  The customer is a lucky fellow.

First of all thank you all for all the nice comments.  There is more than one way to get paid for the effort that it takes to build a rifle.  One way of course is with money, but another is to know that other gun builders appreciate what you have done.  Again I do appreciate your comments.

Dave B.
Thank you for putting the pictures up in a scroll form.  I got your e mail today and I think that I understand how to do it myself now.   I will try it on the next post.

Long John,
I enjoyed talking to you at Dixon's last weekend.  You were one of a handful that actually found me.  Next year I will have a much better spot.  I will be next to Keith Casteel, next to the main entrance to Dexon's shop.

I will post  pictures of the finished but stock when it is finished within the next week.

David can you give a small description on how you go about creating this masterpiece. Paper work first or most of it flows as you give life to metal and wood.
Ho $#*& i am drooling on my key board, oops sorry.

Frenchman,
I usually draw the design directly on the gun stock.  During the actual carving I may change it slightly, but not much.  If you click on my web site there is a tutorial and many pictures showing exactly how I do it.  There are other tutorials there that might interest you also.
