Right nice piece of wood

Just finished this for a friend. It has a Rice 38" swamped B weight 50 cal barrel and an L&R lock. Weighs in at 6# 11oz. Beautiful wood but it is really soft. It was a bear to carve. I was actually going to do more carving but decided to say heck with it. Stained with LMF ebony toner rubbed back then LMF nut brown. Finish is Chambers oil rubbed back with rottenstone.

Nice lines. I’ve come to hate softer wood. Nice job sticking with it.

Looks like you did a very nice job on the carving. I'm with you I really dislike working with soft wood for gun stocks.
