Can anyone interpret the proof marks on this 12 guage muzzle loading shotgun? It was made by J D Dougal in Glasgow, Scotland.

Hi,
The crown over "V" is London Gunmaker's Guild view mark.  The Crown over "GP" is the guild's definitive proof mark.  The lion rampant over the delicate interlaced cypher of "GP" is the guild's provisional proof mark.  These were a common suite of marks used used during the percussion era.
