Naragansett Long Land Bess value
« on: January 01, 2022, 10:29:48 PM »
Looking for the value of a Narragansett Long Land Bess. Musket is used but in excellent condition. What would it be worth? I have a line on one but am unsure what would be a fair price to offer.
Regards,
Peter

I'd want to see the quality of the inlets first.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Hi Mike,
From the close up photos I was sent the inlets look to be fine. Butt plate is very well done. With that said what would be a fair price?

Peter

Without pictures, a descent "value" estimate is largely impossible.

What he said. I have had some pretty rough Narragansets come through my shop. One of them had the ram rod hole 1/2 filled with body putty. Which is OK if you like that sort of thing.

Thanks,
Peter

there are early Narragansetts built when they were in Indy, and later ones after the company was sold and moved to KY.  The former ones ain't bad, the latter ones not so much.
