Another New Pouch
« on: October 06, 2009, 06:34:20 PM »
Hi Folks:

Well, this recently surfaced from the depths of my basement shop. I have been wanting to make a pouch with some kind of flap decoration, as became popular in the early decades of the 1800's. So, this is my first attempt at it. See what you guys think of the outcome.

This pouch is made from veg-tan pigskin with the flap lining of goatskin. The dimensions are 7" wide by 7.5" deep. The body of the pouch is lined with linen. There is an inside pocket stitched to the back. Since I really like the "moon" symbols on old things, I decided on that for the flap. A bit of fringe around it did not seem like a bad idea either. the strap is hand-woven from linen and wool. It has been over-dyed to give it a little older appearance. The entire pouch has been antiqued somewhat to give it a good, worn appearance.

Hope you like it.

Jeff

Jeff, another very nice bag.  I especially like the details and embellishment.
