Large Early Horn

 It's about 16" around the outside curve and 13" tip-to-tip. The butt was left in it's natural shape. The plug is Poplar and has been aged a bit, it is held with eight wooden pegs and is about
3 X 2 3/4"s. In the Pix it looks like there is a gap between the wood and horn but it is air tight, wanted it to look like it had shrunk. The tip is carved from the horn. The horn body is scraped with marks left, there are also some dents and scratches. The finish is some old stain and Brown shoe polish rubbed back a bit with steel wool.

It's got that nice old-age look. A good example of what most horns were probably like.

Beautiful horn!! Quite well done and would match up nicely with any good rifle. Thank you for bringing it in for all to see. Very nice work.

I agree with the other comments, many time simple is way better. This is one of those times, I like it a lot.
