HRUFF BROTHER & SEAVER NEW YORK
« on: June 02, 2022, 01:45:27 AM »
Here’s a nice half stock that recently followed me home. It’s not my normal cup of tea but it was a nice rifle and I couldn’t pass it up. Any New York collectors out there that can give me some info on these folks?

Looks like a very nice half stock rifle.
The name is actually "Bruff, Brother & Seaver".  "The New York State Firearms Trade" (Swinney & Rowe) lists them in N.Y. City 1856-58.

An ad in "Spirit of Times", Oct. 25, 1856 reads in part:  "Bruff, Brother and Seaver/Importers and Manufacturers of Guns, Rifles, Pistols and Sporting Articles/44 Warren-Street, New York..."

Good looking Eastern rifle and the back action lock looks to be above average and I wish it was mine ;D.
