I watched a deer jumping the string video, that was slowed to slow motion, and in fact the arrow went over the deer, as he crouched to jump, actually jumping after the arrow had passed over his back.
I can certainly visualize that happening with a whitetail, maybe not with a muley or moose.
What I had read was the deer's acuity to movement was 10X that of a human. That was stated for all ungulates.
I have walked (hunting) to the top of a knob, looked over the other side to see moose almost 1,000yards away looking up, straight at me. They saw me as I was glassing the valley in front of me.
The fellow I was with, said "last year I went down after them and it took Dad and I 2 days to pack out the bull". I said "we're not doing that".
