Bead decorated gun dated 1769
« on: November 12, 2022, 02:23:36 AM »
I have posted on bead decorated guns previously (https://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=69582.msg702923#msg702923).
Until today I was aware of only four, now the number is five. I suspect there are more out there but that’s all I know of.

This gun was sold at auction in Virginia in 2020 and details can be seen at: https://jsealive.jeffreysevans.com/lots/view/1-3QWQCB/18th-century-american-bead-decorated-flintlock-musket

Looks like a restock or parts gun to me – not that that is a bad thing. I am curious if anyone can tell if the barrel and lock predate the date (1769) on the stock. Note that the auction notes say that the lock has been reconverted and that some missing beads have been replaced. Perhaps someone here is familiar with this gun? I’d like to know what the trigger guard looks like.
