Lehigh Valley Barn Gun

Lehigh Valley ?  Overall 57" LOP13 1/2"  barrel 42 1/2" Octagon to round 14 1/2"  Cal .50  Butt plate is gone but was held on with square nails, no cheek rest, plane jane but one of my favorites.

Very nice. My family migrated from Lehigh Valley to Westmoreland County then on to Perry County, Ohio in 1816. It’s good to see what they may have used during their life. Thanks for the share.

Thanks for sharing the images of this one.  Any traces of what had been nailed on the butt?  Leather, sheet of brass, other metal?

I believe it was some kind of metal like on trade guns. The butt plate went over the heel and toe of the butt  and fastened with a square nail as the others.

Butt Plates are overrated,  :D.  Looks great without.  Easy to see why it is one of your favorites.
