touch mark

Would like to know if anyone knows what this touch mark represents. It is on a Damascus barreled SxS shotgun. Only marks on this gun. It belongs to an older friend that is even more technologically incompetent than myself,

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

It looks like an "F" with some parts broken off the stamp to me.

I don't know if that helps or if I am just being Captain Obvious. If the latter, it is unintentional, and I apologize.
