My new Brooksbury

Just took delivery on my new Mike Brooks .50 cal. I can’t remember exactly when he started this project, but I know it was after 2010 cause that’s when he moved to New Liberty…. Its a wonderful rifle, Getz swamped barrel, Dale Johnson lock. Magic Maple stain and a True Oil finish. Plumb brown and boiled clorox on the metal. He originally was going to do it in brass but the castings got held up in Shanghi customs. J B weld was only used when absolutely necessary. Carving was brilliantly executed  with a dremmel tool and x- acto knife. I have proudly displayed this wonderful piece over my mantel, using a 6 inch deck screw through the patch box for security.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

I can’t run with the big dog!!

Spike and Chester!

Hey Spike ya wanna go to Knoxville? Do ya huh huh huh! ;D

I think that there is some confusion as to who the big dog really is. Just because he’s biggest dog doesn’t make him the big dog!!

The thing with Mike's guns for me is I like them the first time I see them, and I like them even more every time I see them after that. Congratulations and thank you for sharing.

Did you use a bronze spike or a galvanized spike?
