Opening Day Maryland Gobbler
« on: April 18, 2023, 08:52:08 PM »
What a perfect opening day in Maryland today!  First spring I've heard birds gobbling at my new place after the last 2 years quiet as a church.  Took advantage of it and got it done.  Gobbled non-stop on the roost, worked around a field/swamp edge right to me.  20 ga, 44" Colerain full turkey choke, 90grFF pushing 1 3/4oz of lead 4's.

Good job! Nice Tom.
It’s been quiet here at my place in west Tennessee after the first morning last Saturday.

I found this: "The tulip tree is North America's tallest native hardwood tree and probably existed on Manhattan before Central Park's creation."

I also thought it strange for the inclusion of the word "poplar", as the leaves are nothing like a poplar, or aspen.

Daryl I have some HUGE tulip poplars here in my yard and woods.  Had a couple cut out near the house two winters ago that were 5-6 foot across the stump and there are bigger out away from the house!  Tree guy was fussing, they were taller than his boom truck, too.

One of my school chums (Southern Ontario) had a large tulip tree in their back yard that has something wrong with it, always bleeding bark and there was one in a neighbour's front yard across the road from our house - beautiful when in bloom. We just knew them as Tulip Trees.
