I can’t get over how much it resembles the modern Tryon replicas. I sure would be interested in who made it. There are so many innovative features, and wonderful engraving, not doubt this was an expensive gun in its day.

Neat butt stock, but it sure needs some work to make it shoot! It kind of looks like a New York target rifle to me, based on its single trigger, extra-long cheekpiece, engraved arc of large points above box hinge, and the large silver inlay band running along the butt plate edge on the back side. It was a great target rifle at one time... amazing how a rifle of this quality could be so carelessly mishandled over the years, to end up like this.

So that would have been a half stock, 40 caliber-ish, 36"-ish length fairly heavy barrel target rifle?

Probably all for percussion caps... unless one holds a jag.
