The power of prayer?

I saw this really cool gun online yesterday. Here's the description.

"In the midst of the Great Turkish War (1688 to 1694), Venice was under the rule of Francesco Morosini. Francesco possessed a unique Bible with a concealed firearm cleverly hidden within its pages. The gun is intricately concealed, making it challenging to detect or extract once the book is shut, yet it can be readily activated by tugging on the silk bookmark."

Well it would appear he never had to use it, so there's that!  Very cool.

I like it.  I could easily do this to a copy of Moby Dick  :) but not our Bible.

What is interesting to me is that the miguelet lock faces backwards towards the breech to maximize economy of space. Of course, the Doge could afford such craftsmanship.
