Lovely work, Adrie!!
You did not make life any easier for yourself by making such small version!
Much harder to do than a full sized lock.
First rate work!

Hi,

I spent over 2 days trying to make the lid of the pan fit. First I made a spring, but when it was attached it turned out to be too narrow and the lid did not open completely.

I then made a wider spring, with a bevel at the front with a shorter stroke at the top and a longer stroke at the bottom. The small spring does the last bit and secures the lid. [See drawing].
I turned the flint over so it sparks better.
Maybe another time a different angle or a slightly higher cock.
What you asked me Clowdis.

How it works

Thanks for your support
Adrie

Adrie, If you have'nt  found this yet, some nice firearms and locks and stuff. Maybe even possible to bid on those locks then you would have a nice example to study. Its a pity they dont have any flintlocks.

Howdy folks!

I can't see the pics in this thread. Could this be a setting on my end or did the age out?

That's fascinating.  I know nothing of the time period these were invented but they appear to either be the pre-curser to the "flintlock" lock, or an attempt to make the flintlock better.

Do you know if these were before, during, or after the flintlock lock was invented?

So, those locks are close to a traditional flintlock lock. Would you think it’s possible to modify a flintlock lock to a snaphaunce lock, or would that be more trouble than it’s worth?
