DST Maker

Picked up a sweet, wispy .32 SMR with a Bill Large barrel.  Has an L&R lock, but I do not know whose mark this is on the DST.

 I miss Curly a lot. I used to sell his tradeguns when I was trading at rendezvous. At one rendezvous another old trader tried to sell me an old beat up tradegun by telling me it was one of the first ones Curly made. It looked the part, and in fact I had heard some of his first guns were a little rough, but it was a 12guage so I let it go. While talking to Curly on the phone I mentioned the gun, and how it appeared to be made from an equally early Dixie civil war replacement stock made of Birch, with so little drop, and a high comb that just about knock your head of every time you shot it. Then he asked me who the trader was, and how much he wanted for it. He was a great guy, but he never really said if he built that gun or not.

"Curly" Gostomsky  has been gone for about 25 years and he made good items for gun makers.
 This is one of his double set triggers and the styled star was his trademark.

On the subject of good set triggers
At last years CLA show I saw a display of very nice,slim southern style set triggers,and didnt make it back around to pursue them .
Any idea as to who I;m talking about?
They looked Almost as good as mr Rollers triggers

 Maybe Ross Dillion, I got a set of his triggers and they are pretty good for the price. I will warn you that they aren’t double throw, double set, so they only fire when set. So if you have a lock you want to use without a fly, this set of triggers will do it without shearing off the halfcock notch.

I had one of Curly's trade guns, a very light 12 bore, in the early 80's. Can't remember where I bought it, maybe from Taylor.

I’ve got one of Curly’s tradeguns as well. I sold it originally as a kit, and the owner elected to not put any kind of finish on the wood, or the metal. Years later I helped his wife liquidate his estate, and was given the tradegun for my trouble. It’s a 42” 20 gauge. Oh, and I did put finish on the wood, and trigger guard.
