Plains style knife sheath
« on: December 28, 2023, 11:43:40 PM »
I've been plugging away at a sheath for the knife JBulitz made for me a while back. Finally got it all together. Old Italian and German beads on braintan buckskin, whitetail rawhide liner. Hand rolled tincones from old powder cans and dyed horsehair.

The last picture shows the colors better.

NIce work.  More than a couple of hours work invested in that piece.

I like your pattern and the use of colors. Where do you source your beads?

Polecat,

Wherever I can get the old colors from. Crazy Crow has been good, but the old colors are disappearing fast.

MTC, I too have been having a hard time time finding good old colors. It looks like your yellow is more of a pumpkin color, is that correct? And if so, do you know where you found it.
Thank you, Polecat

I picked up that color from a lady who was getting out of beadwork. It is old Italian greasy pumpkin.

That was a great find.  I have been looking, with no luck, for that color for a long time. If you ever find a supplier with those, please let me know.
