F&I Powder Horn
« on: March 29, 2024, 04:32:41 PM »
Recently finished engraving this piece. About 14 inches long on the outside curve, right hand hang. Some of my engraving designs with a lots of John Bush influence.

Beautiful, some people just don’t get the proportions correct on a horn and you have done a fantastic job! Just outstanding.

Please tell how you made the retainer cord for the spout plug. 8) 8) ;)

The retainer cord is the "basis" macrane knot. One log length and one short length of cord. The long one about 2&1/2 times the length of the shorter one.they rap around the plug to make  four strands with the shorter two in the middle., the longer two. one on each side. The central two do not move, the outer two are tied in an over hand knot around the central two. Kind of hard to explain but easy to do after you get the hang of it. The resulting cord will sprial.
