When you say "rawhide" do you mean "rough out"?   If that bag is indeed rawhide, and it gets wet, it'll set up hard like a dog chew toy. 

Not being critical, but if you sew a bag with a saddle stitch I think it would last longer than that exposed whip stitch.  Just a suggestion for the next bag.

Yep it’s raw hide. Will try the saddle stitch and see how it goes when I form the pouch,
