a nice horn
« on: May 07, 2024, 01:25:21 AM »
Last August, I attended the CLA Annual Meeting and Show.  I had taken with me an amount of money with intention to purchase a souvenier/keepsake from this show which was a bucket list item of my life.  Ron Scott had a couple of horns on his table that caught my eye, and after being allowed to handle them, I chose a scrimshawed horn by Steve Vance.  Although my experience with contemporary horners work is very small, I recognized it as superlative work, and agreed to purchase it at the asking price.  It turned out though, that the hospitality extended to me by CLA members at the show far out classed the souvenier value of this horn and for that, I will always be grateful.  Special thanks to Wayne Estes, Daniel Coats, and David Rase.  I am still over the top with excitement.
I present some images of it here for your viewing.

Art is not an object.  It is the excitement inspired by the object.

We do this CLA thing every year. The welcome mat is out for you here on Stoner Creek. Thank you for sharing this wonderful horn too. I was lucky enough to get a first hand look at it last August.
