Alacran, that's an excellent ofhand target! And in a wind!  Daryl is spot on - 39-1x/50. (I'm surpirsed he quit catching fish long enough to check in on the rest of us deprived souls  ;D). I sure hope that you will get your cross-sticks out and have another go at the rabbit! Thanks for shooting.

I forgot to take a picture, but my score was basically ZERO anyways aside from the 5 points for hitting the body. ;D All of my shots were two inches high.  :o

Seth, I know that feeling - too well! Hope that you'll take another crack at that rabbit! My only prayer these days is to shoot from a rest of some sort. Just the realities of my becoming a certified antique. But it's still fun and I sure have learned to laugh at my frailties. Not many useful options besides laughter.

Isn't that the truth. The old grey stallion ain't what he used to be from any position.

I hope to get out again this weekend with my glasses on instead of contacts. I was wondering if shooting in my contacts was changing my focus or something, because I don't usually consistently shoot high with this rifle.

Finally got out again with my new rifle. 44” Colrain round bottom groove. Used 50 grains 2F old Eynesford behind a denim patched .490 ball. 25 yards offhand, perfect light and wind conditions. Tried a second target, but the light was bad. Too much shadow. Every shot went 2” high. Anyway, this is as good as I’ll ever do, and probably just lucky.

okawbow,
Beautiful rifle and a great target! You have moved into the lead with a score of 42 - offhand no less! Clearly, you and the new rifle work really well together. Way to go!
