Hunting load poi on clean bore

I couldn't find much/any info on this in the search.

For a hunting load on a clean bore (specifically tow mink oil saturated on thick/tight patches) I'm wondering what everyone sees for their POI vs the POI of that same load when it is fouled. Is it vastly different?

How do you prepare your bore when loading for hunting?

I'll be testing this tomorrow. I swabbed the oil out of the bore, then patched it with acetone, then patched it with mink oil. I figured that might be the closest to a fouled bore condition. I'll fire my first shot as if I'm hunting, and hopefully it will be right on target.

Much depends on the calibre. My .69 hits the same POI whether second or first shot.
My .50 hits high with the first shot at 25 yards, however the second shot hits lower.
The .36 is reverse, with the first shot out of a clean bore hitting low, second and subsequent hitting higher.
Doesn't matter the lube used.
The use of acetone was not needed.
It will strike close enough for deer or any other game. Just sight the rifle for the first shot for hunting and learn where to hold for subsequent shots.

I never fire a shot out of a clean bore. I fire a blank charge before I load it whether for hunting or plinking.

I tested it today.

I wiped the bore with acetone and then ran a patch with me nk oil, then loaded a ball.

First shot was a touch high and left at 100yards. I swabbed the bore w a damp spit patch, then dry patch, then a mink oil patch then loaded the second round. It was a little low and left. I repeated that process and the third round was a little high and centered. I then just loaded as I usually do, not swabbing, and shot quite a few more shots. They were all in the same area surrounding the bull, so I don't think there is a difference in my poi on a clean bore that my shooting ability is able to detect.

I had a couple of flinches in there... The ones very wide left/right. Other than that, I had a little trouble sighting accurately on this target. I was shooting at sunrise and the target was hidden in the shadow of the range berm. With different lighting conditions, I think I could improve that quite a bit

None of my rifles change their poi from first to subsequent shots.  In fact, when I go to a match, often the first shot on the trail is the tie breaker shot.  It is normally at fairly close range, ie:  15 to 20 yards, and is almost always a dot about 5/8" diameter surrounded by scoring rings.  In the matches in which I participate, if you don't punch out the centre dot, you will not win the day.  And I shoot at mine with a clean bore knowing that where the sights lay there too will lay the ball.  My BPCR's are a different animal.

Before I go out shooting or hunting I do wipe the bore with Isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual oil from the barrel that may have remained at the last cleaning. the acetone probably will do the same but is a whole lot more money. Any one else use acetone on a regular basis? Been in this game for 50 years and have never heard of it.

I have acetone in my garage that I typically use for degreasing small metal parts. There is no particular reason I use it over iso other than it's in my garage and the iso isn't!

I have never head of using acetone. Now and then, I will run a dry patch down and out before loading That doesn't happen often.
