Swiss usually produces the highest vel, in both stricken and weighed charges but less difference in weighed charges.
Note that in stricken measures, there will also be greater weight of Swiss than Goex due to it having greater specific
gravity. The GOEX I measured a stricken load at 78gr. 3F while the same quantity of Swiss powder weighed 85gr., so
6gr. heavier for the same volume. I only did this once but should at some point, re-check this again.
My impression with Schutzen powder, is that it produces less vel. than GOEX, however I have not chronographed them to find out.
As to recoil, .50's do not kick with only 100gr. of powder. Bit of a push is all. My .50 has a .44" bl. There is slightly more movement
with 100gr. than with 85, not much.
But then, I shoot this as my match rifle as I don't hunt moose and elk any more. I have to re-set my watch on the top of my wrist, after every shot.
That watch stopped working for some reason. It just up and quit.

Swiss is best with Olde Eynsford a close second. Goex and Schuetzen are bottom of the barrel. If 100 grains out of a .50 cal bothers you then you need to shoot 100 grains behind a .690 ball out of a 6 pound 12 gauge to know what recoil is.

No thanks. Mine weighs 9 1/2 pounds and shoots a .682" ball with 165gr. 2F. The above picture's load is only 140gr. 2F. The gun was almost at it's zenith when Taylor took the picture.
